Golem cover reveal

The timing had seemed perfect.

When I asked illustrator Carmel Ben Ami when we should reveal her beautiful cover for Golem, Golem, Golem, we both felt that the first night of Chanukah would be ideal. But then, news of the horrible tragedy in Bondi Beach hit, and the moment no longer felt right.

We're sharing the cover now, as we get ready for the final night of Chanukah 2025. At the same time, we reflect on the sadness and pain of the past week, but also the comfort and hope that comes from our timeless ritual of lighting the candles of the menorah. And we look forward to next year, when we can hold this book in our hands while celebrating a Chanukah filled with joy and laughter, not tears and grief.

It's fitting that a pivotal moment in our book involves the titular golem making a broken menorah whole once again. It's a poignant reflection of how the Jewish people have always responded to calamities throughout our history.

Our book will publish on September 1, 2026, courtesy of Roaring Brook Press/Macmillan. In the meantime, we wish a Happy Chanukah to all, and may we merit to see the light of love and peace in our lives.
